Bank holiday to celebrate the Immaculate Conception

Tomorrow, Tuesday December 8, is another public holiday here in Spain as the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is celebrated. Usually, this involves parades with a statue of the Blessed Virgin being carried through the streets.

Lisa and I will try to get to such a procession tomorrow and will, hopefully be able to take some pictures.

Oh, and speaking as a non-Catholic, I should point out that this feast does not celebrate the conception of Jesus, that is just a common mistake. In fact, it marks that of his mother who, the Catholic church teaches, was conceived in a biologically normal way but was kept free of original sin by God’s grace.
